nothing on earth.Day 1 Whitehorse, YK The adventure begins today on arrival in Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon and a city of character, color and contrasts. Meet the tour director this evening at the hotel. Flight information: All flights should arrive prior to 2:00 pm. Passengers who cannot arrive in Whitehorse by 2:00 pm should consider booking a pre tour night stay. Day 2 Dawson City, YK Travel north on the Klondike Highway past Lake Laberge, made famous by Robert Service’s poem, “The Cremation of Sam McGee”. Stop to view the Carmacks Interpretive River Front Boardwalk and the beautiful Five Finger Rapids. See and taste the world’s largest cinnamon bun at Braeburn. Dawson City shows true Yukon character this evening! Test Lady luck or just people watch at Diamond Tooth Gertie’s Gambling Hall! (B) Day 3 Dawson City, YK This morning visit an actual Gold Mining Dredge. Be ready for a little taste of gold panning for fortune. Enjoy an afternoon of leisure and relive 1897 along the boardwalk and shops of this town from the past. (B) Day 4 Tok, AK North to Alaska! Today you travel over the “Top of the World Highway” and stop at the unique town of “Chicken” named after the state bird – the Ptarmigan that resembles a chicken. Then it’s on to the Village of Tok, where the Eagle Trail crosses the Tanana River and sternwheelers once plied the river. (B) Day 5 Fairbanks, AK Mail your postcards this morning at North Pole, Alaska as you stop by Santa Claus House. Continue on to Fairbanks, the hub of Alaska’s heartland. This afternoon enjoy a cruise of the Chena and Tanana Rivers aboard a sternwheeler known as Discovery. You will see a bush plane taking off from a "bush" style runway, witness the "wedding of the rivers," and gain insight into the ancient Athabascan Indian culture on a personalized tour of the Chena Indian Village. Tonight step back in time and visit Alaskaland for a delicious baked salmon dinner, followed by a musical review at the Palace Theatre and Saloon. (D) Day 6 Denali, AK Incredible vistas provide a feast for the eyes today on your journey through the town of Nenana to Denali National Park and Preserve. The panoramic views of the famed Alaska Range continue to take your breath away as you see Mt McKinley – North America’s highest peak. Arrive at your overnight destination, the small Alaskan town of Wasilla, a year-round recreation paradise and the home of the annual world renowned Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Day 7 Anchorage, AK Get away from the crowds and enjoy some fantastic photo opportunities as we get an intimate and personal visit at an Alaskan Husky dog kennel. View the Iditarod video, take a kennel tour and go on a nature puppy walk with ten to twenty pups playing and running on the wilderness trail. Continue to Anchorage for lunch served inside a Goldmine at the Sourdough Mining Company with storyteller Dusty Sourdough! Then explore the past at the Alaska Native Heritage Centre and experience the people at Anchorage’s premier cultural attraction. Hear the songs and stories and see the dancers. (B, L) Day 8 Prince William Sound Cruise Imagine cruising the calm and protected waters of Prince William Sound accompanied by a National Forest Interpreter. The vessel hugs the coastline and icebergs glide silently by. Pulling into a bay the vessel floats right up to a 1700-foot high active tidewater glacier! See otters, eagles, puffins, sea lions, whales and glacier-wildlife. This is wild and dramatic Alaska up close. (L) Day 9 Beaver Creek, YK This morning see stunning vistas as you travel to Gakona Junction, climbing to Mentasta Summit before descending into Tok, where you rejoin the Alaska Highway. Then it is on to Beaver Creek, passing through beautiful scenic forests and meadows in bloom. A highlight during a stay at the Inn is the entertaining and satisfying Rendezvous Dinner Show where songs and skits add to your dining pleasure. (D) Day 10 Whitehorse, YK Today depart Beaver Creek for historic Burwash Landing and travel alongside the magnificent St. Elias Range and Kluane Lake. En route, make a stop at Klukshu Village and Kluane Wilderness Village. A visit will be made at Sheep Mountain Visitor Centre near Haines Junction – the home of the Dall sheep. Arrive in Whitehorse to settle in for a two-night stay. (B) Day 11 Skagway, YK Travel west over the White Pass Summit and see some of the most panoramic views of the terrain en route to Skagway. For those who like to “ride the rails” an optional train trip to Skagway will be offered. You will fall in love with the quaint port village of Skagway and the fresh sea air. At the end of a day wind your way back to Whitehorse and join fellow passengers at a “Farewell to the Yukon” dinner at the hotel. (B, D) Day 12 Depart Whitehorse Say goodbye to the Yukon and on the journey back home spend some quiet time reliving the memories of the sights, the sounds, indeed the MAGIC of Alaska and the Yukon Important Information: Itinerary Includes: 11 Meals - 6 Breakfasts, 2 lunches, 3 dinners 3-1/2 Star Accommodation Prices do not include flights to and from Whitehorse or airport transfers.
