Meals: Dinner Lodging: Millennium Alaskan Hotel Anchorage, AK Day 2 – Jet Boat adventures Your Alaska travel adventure begins as you ride a jet boat with a naturalist guide to look for bald eagles, beavers, moose and even bears that live along the river. Then, hike into Alaska’s bush to see an authentic, turn-of-the-century trapper’s cabin. If the weather is good, you’ll have an incredible view of Alaska’s famous Mount McKinley – which the Athabascan Indians called denali, meaning "the Great One" – en route to your wilderness lodge. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner Lodging: Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, Talkeetna, AK (Friday departures); Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, Trapper Creek, AK (Saturday departures) Day 3 – Mush! In Alaska travel by dogsled is both a very popular sport and an important mode of transportation to remote places where roads still don’t go. Meet the mighty dogs that respond to the cry of "Mush!" by racing off into the wild, pulling heavy sleds over the snow – along with an Iditarod "musher" – at a summer training facility where Alaskan huskies learn how to be sled dogs. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, Trapper Creek, AK (Saturday departures) ![]() Day 4 – A bird's-eye view of Mount McKinley Soar over the Denali foothills in a small plane for a breathtaking bird's-eye view of towering Mount McKinley, the tallest mountain in North America. Have time to explore Anchorage, Alaska's largest city, before continuing on to the wildlife-rich Kenai Peninsula and a two-night wilderness lodge stay. Meals: Breakfast, dinner Lodging: Seward Windsong Lodge, Seward, AK (Friday departures); Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge, Cooper Landing, AK (Saturday departures) Day 5 – Rafting on the Kenai RiverFather and Son Kayaking Today, you can choose how you and your family will experience the wonders of this area of Alaska. Go kayaking; take a scenic river-rafting trip; or hike into the wilderness with a local guide. You can also take advantage of optional opportunities to do some fishing, available for an additional cost. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner Lodging: Seward Windsong Lodge, Seward, AK (Friday departures); Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge, Cooper Landing, AK (Saturday departures) Day 6 – Beautiful Kenai Fjords Continue your Alaska travel adventure with a visit to the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward to observe unique and fascinating marine life. Take a cruise through the Kenai Fjords region, a wilderness landscape of canyons, waterfalls and rocky coastline; look for otters, harbor seals, puffins, and maybe even a humpback whale with help from your naturalist guide. Meals: Breakfast, dinner Lodging: The Hotel Alyeska, Girdwood, AK Day 7 – Glacier Rail Journey / Iceberg Rafting At the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, meet moose, bison, elk and other orphaned or injured animals being rehabilitated here. Climb aboard the Alaska Railroad for a spectacularly scenic ride to Spencer Glacier. Board a raft and float among the icebergs on Spencer Lake; later, join us for our farewell dinner at the hotel tonight. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner Lodging: The Hotel Alyeska, Girdwood, AK Day 8 – Homeward bound Tour ends: Anchorage, Alaska. As your Alaska travel comes to an end, a transfer from the Hotel Alyeska to Anchorage International Airport is included for your flight home. Allow a minimum of two hours at the airport for check-in. Night 2 & 3 (Friday departures): Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge Talkeetna, Alaska Built with huge timbers and river rocks and set in a stunning location high on a river bluff, the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge is the jumping off point for climbers hoping to conquer the 20,320-foot-high summit of Mount McKinley – and the perfect home from which to explore the Alaskan wonders all around you. Your family will be awed by the panoramic views of Mount McKinley and the Alaska Range from the Grand Lobby, with its towering 46-foot tall fireplace, and the other public rooms. Get yourself “out there” and right into nature on the many trails available. The Base Camp Bistro offers hearty fare in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. Night 2 & 3 (Saturday departures): Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge Trapper Creek, Alaska Bordering Denali National Park on the banks of the Chulitna River, the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge offers awesome views of Mt. McKinley from its setting in the wilderness. Discover why The Great Room in the main lodge was given that name as you enjoy the tables for card and board games or warm yourself beside the big stone fireplace as you admire the vistas from the floor-to-ceiling windows. Take a stroll along the Chulitna River Trail, hike the Hill Trail or explore Alaska’s flora with your family on the Botanical Walking Trail. Soak in the open-air hot tubs on the deck as you take in the amazing scenery. Night 4 & 5 (Friday departures): Seward Windsong Lodge Seward, Alaska Situated close to town yet in a secluded setting with mountains all around, the Seward Windsong Lodge is a great place for families. Guestrooms nestled in the woods feature Alaskan décor, cable TV with VCR, free movies, hairdryer, coffee maker and telephone. Your family will enjoy roaming around the beautiful grounds in search of wildlife or just hanging out together in the Lobby in front of the river-rock fireplace after a wonderful day of family discoveries. Night 4 & 5 (Saturday departures): Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge Cooper Landing, Alaska Located in Alaska’s famous Kenai River valley, the Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge is a gem in the wilderness. Take a walk with your family along the scenic, self-guided nature trail that winds through the forest and along the bluff. Refresh yourself in one of the indoor or outdoor hot tubs or relax in your comfortable, bungalow-style room after a busy day of exploration.
