Your visit to two of the area’s most beautiful countries concludes with a memorable, home-hosted farewell dinner in the Konvale region.

Day 1: Overnight Flight
Join us and explore Croatia and Slovenia, a “must see” destination filled with medieval architecture, tranquil lakes and rolling hills.

Day 2: Arrive Zagreb, Croatia - Tour Begins
Your tour begins in Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia. This evening, join your fellow travelers for a special welcome dinner.

Day 3: Zagreb - Bled, Slovenia
Today your Tour Manager provides a brief introduction to the origin and history of the Croatian language. Join a local guide for a city tour featuring Zagreb’s Old City and experience such sights as the majestic cathedral, St. Mark’s Church and the Opera House. Meet the locals as you explore the colorful Dolac Market and perhaps even purchase some native figs or olives during your visit. This afternoon, depart for beautiful Bled, your home for the next two evenings.

Day 4: Bled
Today explore Bled from the water. Enjoy the old-world charm of taking a “pletna” boat to the island on the lake to visit the 17th century cathedral, St. Mary’s Church, and the “wishing bell”. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax and explore charming Bled on your own.

Day 5: Bled - Ljubljana - Opatija, Croatia
Travel to Ljubljana, Slovenia’s charming capital. Join a local expert on a walking tour exploring Ljubljana’s fascinating old town center with its many charming squares and magnificent Baroque, Renaissance and Art Nouveau buildings. Your next stop is at a local winery where you have the opportunity to sample some locally produced varieties. Then it is on to the seaside city of Opatija. Upon arrival, enjoy a brief orientation tour of the town center.

Today is at leisure to enjoy Croatia's “Riviera.” Your Tour Manager will be on hand to offer suggestions on how to spend your day.

Day 7: Opatija - Plitvice Lakes
After breakfast, travel to Croatia’s most beautiful national park, Plitvice Lakes, an integral part of UNESCO World Heritage. Enjoy awe-inspiring scenery as you travel through this natural phenomenon of sixteen terraced lakes surrounded by forests and thick vegetation. Each lake is connected by a series of waterfalls and free flowing cascades. A cruise on the lake takes you into the heart of this natural wonder.

Day 8: Plitvice Lakes - Split
Begin your day by traveling to the ancient city of Split. Experience Split’s impressive Roman Palace of Diocletian, one of the most significant late-Roman historical monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage site. In addition, you will see the peristyle of the palace and the Temple of Jupiter. The remainder of your day is free for you to explore the winding streets of the old city.

Day 9: Split - Korcula - Dubrovnik
This morning, travel down the Dalmatian Coast towards the medieval city of Dubrovnik, enjoying some breathtaking views of the beautiful blue waters of the Adriatic Sea. Your first destination today is the birthplace and childhood home of Marco Polo, the island of Korcula. Upon arrival in the city of Orebic, take a short cruise to the city of Korcula where history lives. Walk in the footsteps of Marco Polo as you explore the streets that lead to the Venetian-influenced Cathedral Square.

Day 10: Dubrovnik
Join an expert local guide on a tour of “Old Dubrovnik”, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the Franciscan Monastery, where Europe’s oldest pharmacy lies; Rector’s Palace; the City Walls; and many more historical sites. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore this fascinating city. This evening, travel to the culturally-rich Konavle region and join your fellow travelers for a home-hosted farewell dinner. Today, visit the charming seaside city of Porec. More than 2,000 years old, Porec’s city center still follows its ancient Roman street plan. Visit the Euphrasian Basilica Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site with remarkably intact 6th century Byzantine art and early Christian mosaics dating to the 2nd and 6th centuries. Enjoy a tour of a local farm and a demonstration of local produce and specialties of the region. Taste typical Istrian cuisine at a farm lunch before traveling to the artists colony of picturesque Groznjan. Here you will have free time to visit an artist’s gallery, stroll through the village and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Your transportation is included.

Mysteries of Beekeeping $55.00

Travel a short distance from Bled to the small town of Radovljica and learn about an essential part of Slovenian history and culture – the rich tradition of beekeeping. Beekeeping was the most popular in the 18th and 19th centuries but remains a vibrant part of Slovenian life today. The life and the work of Slovenia’s indigenous honeybee, the Grey Bee of Carniola, can be observed in the biological room of the Beekeeping Museum. The artistic part of the museum houses a great chapter in the realm of Slovene folk culture – the illustrated beehive front boards. From here you will travel to the Slovenian countryside where a local beekeeper will show the daily routines of an actual apiary. During your visit, you will learn about and sample several products created from the honey harvested by these beekeepers. A typical regional lunch is also included.

Enjoy a short drive to the coastal city of Trogir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Discover the treasures of this beautiful city on a locally guided tour, including the waterfront - surrounded by crystal clear waters and beautiful islands. While exploring the city, you will see the historic cathedral which houses the chapel of St. John and is one of the most beautiful Renaissance works of art in Europe outside Tuscany. The main portal of the cathedral is a masterpiece of medieval art, built in 1240. The belfry, built in three styles, is one of the most beautiful on the whole Mediterranean.
