Peggys CoveCombine the best of the Atlantic Maritimes Tour with the best of the Circle Newfoundland and Labrador Tour to create The Great Atlantic Canadian Experience.

Fresh salt air, sandy beaches, rocky coves, cosmopolitan cities, remote lighthouses, rich history, warm hospitality, rustic fishing villages, succulent seafood, unspoiled nature, varied activities, first-rate facilities and travel routes...all of these things and more make Canada's Maritime Provinces one of the world's most popular destinations. Get a taste of the Maritimes on this delightful tour of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

Your Atlantic Canadian journey continues to Newfoundland & Labrador. This comprehensive tour features the best of “the Far East of the Western World”. Travel from the northernmost tip of the island of Newfoundland to the most easterly point in North America through national parks – including Gros Morne, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn of ancient peoples – the Maritime Archaic, Vikings, and Basques – as you travel to coastal fishing communities to meet the friendly and hospitable people of today. Boat tours provide the opportunity to see whales, thousands of seabirds, and, depending on the time of the year, Icebergs! Sample the local food and drink to become an honorary “Newfoundlander”!

Day 1, Saturday: Arrive in Halifax
Arrive in Halifax and check in to your accommodations for a one-night stay. Your hotel is ideally located in the downtown core.

Day 2, Sunday: Halifax - Digby
Discover the rustic charm of the famous fishing village of Peggy’s Cove. Next, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Town of Lunenburg where you have a choice of admission to the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic or a walking tour of this historic community. Travel across country to visit Champlain’s Habitation, Canada’s oldest permanent settlement. In Digby you will overnight at The Pines Resort over looking the Bay of Fundy - home of the world’s highest tides. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 3, Monday: Digby - Moncton
Your journey takes you through the lush Annapolis Valley and on to Grand Pre where fact and fiction blend to reveal the romance of the Land of Evangeline. Continue past the communities of Truro and Amherst as you cross into New Brunswick, spending the night in the bilingual city of Moncton. (Breakfast)

Day 4, Tuesday: Moncton - Charlottetown
Your guided tour continues to Hopewell Rocks where you may walk on the ocean floor at low tide. After lunch, cross to Prince Edward Island on Confederation Bridge, the world’s longest continuous multi-span bridge, and enjoy a delicious lobster supper (meat alternative available) before checking in to your Charlottetown accommodations for the next two nights. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 5, Wednesday: Prince Edward Island touring
Enjoy a free morning in Charlottetown. (If you prefer not to join us on this afternoon tour, enjoy a free day at leisure or perhaps play a local golf course.) Your included afternoon tour begins with a tour of Charlottetown, Canada’s Birthplace, then visiting the red sandstone cliffs, white beaches, gently sloping sand dunes and green fields of Prince Edward Island National Park. Lucy Maud Montgomery describes the scenery in her “Anne of Green Gables” books. Visit the home of “Green Gables”, a Mecca for people from around the globe. (Breakfast, Lunch)
*Arrivals in June, July, August and September (where schedule permits) enjoy a bonus…this evening attend the musical “Anne” at the Charlottetown Festival (Included). Otherwise, enjoy local entertainment and dinner at the Mariner’s Feast (Included).

Day 6, Thursday: Charlottetown - Baddeck
Take the ferry to Nova Scotia, and then proceed to Cape Breton Island - “the Scotland of North America.” Visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site in Baddeck to marvel at the many accomplishments of this genius. Spend two nights at a charming lakeside resort in the heart of Baddeck. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 7, Friday: Cabot Trail touring
(If you prefer not to join us on this day-tour, enjoy a free day at leisure or perhaps play a local golf course.) You’re off to experience one of the prettiest drives in North America, the Cabot Trail. Cape Breton Highlands National Park is next, as you wind along this ribbon of highway, where the mountains meet the sea. The vistas abound as you travel over the flat-topped mountains. During your journey, enjoy a whale watching boat tour (weather permitting). Tonight there is a “Farewell” dinner. (Breakfast, Picnic Lunch, Dinner)

Day 8, Saturday: Baddeck - Port aux Basques
The Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site awaits you. This reconstruction recreates one-fifth of the town of 1744 - words will not do justice to the scope of this tribute to New France. Roam the streets talking with some of the costumed guides who remain in character, or sample the sustenance of the era. At North Sydney, meet your next group of travelers as you board a Marine Atlantic ferry for a relaxing crossing to Port aux Basques, your port of entry on the island of Newfoundland. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 9, Sunday: Port aux Basques - Port au Choix
Drive through the Codroy Valley and on to Corner Brook, the largest city on the west coast, for a brief tour. Your journey continues through Gros Morne National Park – to be enjoyed later on during your tour – to the fishing community of Port au Choix. While there, visit Port au Choix National Historic Site, before checking in to your accommodations for the night. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 10, Monday: Port au Choix - L’Anse au Clair
Board the ferry from St. Barbe to cross the Strait of Belle Isle to Labrador. Continue to Red Bay National Historic Site where the Basques had a whaling station in the 16th century. Spend the night in Labrador. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 11, Tuesday: L'Anse au Clair - St. Anthony
Return to Newfoundland and travel to L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site, the first cultural discovery in the world to receive recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hear of the Vikings who walked here over a thousand years ago. This evening attend The Great Viking Feast at Leifsburdir. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 12, Wednesday: St. Anthony - Cow Head
Enjoy a morning whale watching boat tour in St. Anthony (weather permitting)* before travelling to Cow Head for a two-night stay. (Breakfast, Dinner)
*June and early July are the best time to see Titanic-size icebergs!

Day 13, Thursday: Gros Morne local touring
Discover why Gros Morne National Park is truly one of the highlights of your tour. Visit the Broom Point fishing exhibit and Lobster Cove Lighthouse. Enjoy a scenic boat tour as you learn the geology of the Tablelands, see the whales and bald eagles that frequent the deep waters of the fjord, and hear the history of the small villages nestled on the shores. It is an unforgettable experience; some say the scenery is unequaled in eastern Canada. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 14, Friday: Cow Head - Gander
Have your camera at the ready as your time in Gros Morne National Park draws to a close. Later travel through central Newfoundland and visit the Mary March Regional Museum in Grand Falls–Windsor before arriving in Gander where you spend two nights. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 15, Saturday: Twillingate touring
A scenic drive along the rocky coast of Notre Dame Bay leads to the beautiful outport of Twillingate. At the tip of the island, visit Long Point Lighthouse and Prime Berth museum. Return to Gander to visit the North Atlantic Aviation Museum before returning to your hotel. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 16, Sunday: Gander - St. John's
Head out on the Trans-Canada Highway to visit Terra Nova National Park, the most easterly of Canada's beautiful national parks. Keep your camera close at hand for wildlife along the way. Arrive in the capital city of St. John's and enjoy an intriguing tour of this old seaport. See the Victorian architecture of the downtown area, the busy modern waterfront, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Confederation Building, and the panoramic view from Signal Hill. Arrive at your St. John's hotel for a one night stay. (Breakfast)

Day 17, Monday: St. John's touring - Marine Atlantic Ferry
This morning enjoy some free time to explore on your own. In the afternoon drive to Bay Bulls for one of the highlights of your trip …a boat tour to the Witless Bay bird sanctuary (weather permitting). Later visit the most easterly point in North America, Cape Spear National Historic Site before returning to St. John's for a farewell dinner. After dinner travel to Argentia for an overnight ferry crossing to North Sydney, Nova Scotia. Cabins are included. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 18, Tuesday: North Sydney - Halifax
Your ferry arrives in Nova Scotia in the early afternoon. Your tour continues along the shores of Bras d'Or to the mainland. The last night is at a downtown Halifax hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner)
