Italy appeals to the heart and soul of every traveler—with its historical significance and extraordinary beauty. It inspires a sense of romance, excitement, creativity, and amazing cuisine. On this incredible getaway, explore Italy’s most famous cities. Start in romantic Venice and enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, guided sightseeing with visits to St. Mark’s Square & Basilica, Doges’ Palace and the Bridge of Sighs, and a glassblowers’ demonstration. Join an Acetaia vinegar tasting near Modena, and spend a night in Florence, where you’ll admire Michelangelo’s David and visit sculpture-filled Signoria Square. In Siena, Italy’s best-preserved medieval town, a guided walking tour includes the Duomo and Piazza del Campo.
On to Rome for two overnights and guided sightseeing that includes a visit to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Square and Basilica, the Colosseum and Forum. In Pompeii, a guided walking tour introduces you to the excavations of the city both destroyed and preserved by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. This preserved town gives you an amazingly detailed look into life 2,000 years ago at the peak of the Roman Empire.
Your adventure ends with a farewell dinner and two overnights in the charming resort of Sorrento, where a jetfoil whisks you to the Isle of Capri for a funicular ride and guided sightseeing. Be sure to try a limoncello, the sweet drink made from the enormous lemons that come directly from Sorrento’s numerous lemon trees.

Day 2 Venice
Highlights of your walking tour with a Local Guide are ST. MARK’S SQUARE and the byzantine BASILICA, lavish DOGES’ PALACE and the BRIDGE OF SIGHS. Also watch skilled GLASSBLOWERS fashion their delicate objects in an age-old traditional manner. Afternoon and evening at leisure. Day 3 Venice–Modena–Florence
Enjoy a special treat today: an ACETAIA VINEGAR TASTING near Modena. Then, a scenic drive through the fertile Po area and the Apennine Mountains into Tuscany and to Florence, “Cradle of the Renaissance.” Afternoon and evening at leisure. Time for independent sightseeing and browsing through the shops. Florentine leather goods and gold jewelry sold by the ounce are attractive buys. Day 4 Florence–Siena
This morning, follow your Local Guide to the ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS with Michelangelo’s celebrated David. Admire the magnificent cathedral, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistry’s heavy bronze “Gate of Paradise,” and sculpture-studded SIGNORIA SQUARE. Later, a short drive to Siena, Italy’s best-preserved medieval town. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 5 Siena–Rome
Your guided walking tour takes you inside its historic ramparts to the DUOMO and to the PIAZZA DEL CAMPO, famous for the twice-yearly festival, the Palio. Next, drive south along the Highway of the Sun to Rome, the “Eternal City.” Tonight, why not join an optional dinner with local specialties at one of Rome’s famous restaurants? (Breakfast)
Day 6 Rome
Start with a guided visit to the VATICAN MUSEUMS and SISTINE CHAPEL, world famous for Michelangelo’s ceiling paintings and The Last Judgement. Next, visit monumental ST. PETER’S SQUARE and BASILICA. Balance of the day is at leisure. Savor la dolce vita and enjoy independent activities. Take a stroll along beautiful Via Condotti, discover Rome’s hidden treasures at your own pace, or just sit on a terrace and watch people go by. (Breakfast)
Day 7 Rome–Pompeii–Sorrento
This morning, arrive in POMPEII, the Roman city both destroyed and preserved by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Your Local Guide will walk you past patrician homes, public baths, and commercial districts strikingly recalling day-to-day life when Rome was at the apex of her power. Overnight in the charming, bayside resort of Sorrento. (Breakfast)
Day 8 Sorrento. Excursion to Capri
Speed across the bay by JETFOIL to the Isle of Capri. Ride the FUNICULAR to Capri village for a guided visit of this pretty town. Free time to explore the little shops on the Piazzetta before returning to Sorrento. The remainder of the day is at leisure and this evening, enjoy a special farewell dinner at a local restaurant to celebrate the success of your Italian vacation. (Breakfast, Dinner)
