Montreal and Quebec City are familiar names, you may wonder, why
Charlevoix? Ninety miles from Quebec City is the Charlevoix region of
Quebec. There, perched on a cliff overlooking the St. Lawrence River is
Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu. Built in 1899 by the Richelieu and
Ontario Navigation Company, it was and remains the only grand hotel in
Charlevoix County. Majestically nestled between the sea and the
mountains, it promises an unforgettable stay. You can busy yourself
with any number of outdoor activities, golf, tennis, hiking, cycling,
horseback riding, whale watching, cruise the St. Lawrence, be pampered
at their new spa, or try your luck at their European style casino. Day 1 - Arrive Montreal Your package includes a voucher for your transfer from the airport to the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth. There is so much to see in this radiant city, especially downtown Montreal, with beautiful churches, buildings, museums and an underground city. You could take a stroll through the Latin Quarter to see the trendy bohemian side of the city. Overnight - Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Day 2 - Montreal at Leisure Your city sightseeing tour is a great way to get an overview of this lovely city. You don't want to miss Old Montreal along the shores of the St. Lawrence River where Montreal was founded. It leads into the Old Port, which is one of the largest redeveloped old ports in the world. Here you'll find the Notre-Dame Basilica, constructed in 1824. It is a masterpiece of neo-Gothic architecture. Visit Bonsecours Market and City Hall in this area. Overnight – Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Day 3 - Montreal to Quebec City Your travel time aboard VIA Rail from Montreal to Quebec City is 3 hours. Your departure from Montreal takes you along the St. Lawrence region to Quebec City, the cultural and spiritual heart of “La Belle Province.” Quebec City sits high above the St. Lawrence River and is the only walled city north of Mexico. Quebec City is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful cities in North America. Upon arrival into Quebec City, you will need to take a taxi from the rail station to your hotel choice. The famous Fairmont Chateau Frontenac is situated in the heart of the city, overlooking the St. Lawrence River, close to boutique shopping and quaint restaurants. From the moment you arrive you will see that life around the Frontenac is a cornucopia of this vibrant city. Overnight – Quebec City Day 4 - Quebec City at Leisure During your stay, we have arranged a city sightseeing tour that includes a journey through the old walled city of the Place d’Armes and the Citadel, the official residence of the governor-general in French Canada, and the largest fort on the continent. It seems everything that everything you want to do or see is within easy walking distance. The charm of the streets and buildings in the Petit Champlain is reason enough to visit, but the shops offer items that are unique to Quebec. Horse drawn carriages, sidewalk cafes, street entertainers, brightly covered building, flowers and a warm welcome, all add to your enjoyment of this wonderful city. Overnight – Quebec City Day 5 - Quebec City/Charlevoix The rental car office will assist with your car pick up arrangements. Travel into the countryside along the historic Avenue Royale, the oldest route in La Nouvelle-France, visit beautiful Montmorency Falls and stop at the famous basilica in Sainte Anne de Beaupre. Continue along the Saint Lawrence River to Charlevoix. Here you will find the beautiful Fairmont Manoir Richelieu. Here you can golf, hike, swim, and go whale watching or try your luck at the casino. Use these days to relax and enjoy the many facilities that the Manoir has to offer. Overnight – Fairmont Manoir Richelieu Day 6 – Charlevoix at leisure Enjoy your day at leisure.
