Day 1 - Arrive in Stockholm
Your Scandinavia tour begins at 6:00 PM at the Sheraton Stockholm Hotel.  A transfer is included from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to the Sheraton Stockholm Hotel in the heart of this historic city. Meet your traveling companions at this evening's welcome reception and dinner.

Day 2 - Discover Stockholm and the Vasa Museum
Begin your discovery of Sweden's capital with sightseeing including a guided visit to the impressive City Hall, where Nobel Prize festivities take place. Tour the Vasa Museum, featuring the impressive Vasa, an ornate royal warship that sank in Stockholm's harbor following its launch in 1628 and was raised in 1961. In your free afternoon, perhaps take a canal tour, or walk through the cobbled streets of medieval Gamla Stan, or Old Town.

Day 3 - Across the countryside to Toftaholm
Your Scandinavia tour takes you along the Yellow Roads through the Swedish countryside today, past idyllic meadows, forests, and lakes. Arrive in lovely Toftaholm, where your lodging is a lakeside family-run hotel that gets you away from it all; enjoy dinner and a Swedish folk dance performance at the hotel tonight.

Day 4 - From Sweden to Denmark
Depart Toftaholm to visit Sofiero Slott, a majestic castle built in 1865. Continue your Scandinavia tour after lunch with a drive across the Oresund Bridge/Tunnel from Sweden to Copenhagen, Denmark. Your hotel overlooks the Danish capital's historic harbor; dine this evening at the Custom House.

Day 5 - Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Start your exploration of Copenhagen with a visit to Rosenborg Palace, built in Dutch Renaissance style, to see the Danish Crown Jewels. The afternoon and evening are free to explore the historic Nyhavn area and stroll along the Stroget, Copenhagen's main street, enjoying lunch and dinner on your own. We've included admission to Copenhagen's famous Tivoli Gardens amusement park, which you can visit at your leisure this evening.

Day 6 - Visit an island castle and the Danish Riviera
Journey to North Sealand, a region of villages, palaces, lakes, and forests. Visit 17th-century Frederiksborg Castle, built in Danish Renaissance style on three islands in a small lake. Savor local fare at a rustic country inn for lunch and drive the Yellow Roads along the "Danish Riviera" back to Copenhagen. Pay a poignant visit to the Museum of Danish Resistance 1940-1945, before boarding the overnight ferry to Norway.

Day 7 - Sculptures and Viking ships
Enjoy awe-inspiring scenery as you cruise up Oslo Fjord. Upon arrival in Norway's capital, a guided city tour includes a stop at the new Oslo Opera House (opened in 2008); a tour with your local guide of the Viking Ship Museum, featuring three well-preserved Viking ships dating to 800 AD, found in royal burial mounds with fascinating artifacts; and, if you wish, visits to the Fram or Kon-Tiki museums. Check out the new ski jump facility at Holmenkollen - a center for the sport for over a century - and enjoy lunch; then take in the Vigeland Sculpture Park, with its 212 life-sized sculptures by famed Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland, who devoted his career to the project. Overnight in the heart of Olso at the landmark Hotel Continental.

Day 8 - The Norwegian countryside and the amazing Flåm Railway
Depart Oslo and venture into Norway's beautiful countryside today; enjoy lunch in Gol before embarking on a journey on the Norwegian Railway System to Myrdal, for the spectacular descent to Flåm aboard the Flåmsbana (the Flåm Railway). A masterpiece of Norwegian engineering, the Flåmsbana is one of the world's steepest railway lines on normal gauge; you'll descend some 2,600 feet through the mountains, past waterfalls, rivers, ravines and sheer cliffs - it's quite a memorable journey! Spend tonight at a new countryside hotel in Flåm.

Day 9 - A traditional stave church and a cruise on the fjords
Continue your Scandinavia tour with a visit to the Borgund Stave Church in Laerdal - one of the country's finest, best-preserved examples of a traditional and iconic Norwegian wooden stave church, it looks very much as it did when built over 800 years ago! Then travel to Gudvangen for a ferry cruise along the Naeroyfjord, one of Norway's narrowest fjords. Enjoy a barbecue dinner during the first night of your three-night stay at the Hotel Alexandra, a mountainside family-run resort set amidst the stunning Nordfjord.

Day 10 - Learning all about glaciers at Briksdal
Travel today to one of Norway's most inspirational natural wonders - Briksdal Glacier, set at the end of one of the Nordfjord's three branches. Meltwater from the glacier has created three emerald-green lakes in the valley; a ride on a "Troll Car" past thundering waterfalls and a short hike to the foot of the glacier lead to views of absolutely stunning scenery - it's a Scandinavia tour highlight! Dig into a family-style lunch, then return to your resort to take advantage of its many amenities or explore Loen as you please, enjoy a lecture and dine at the hotel.

Day 11 - Dalsnibba and a Geirangerfjord cruise
As your Scandinavia tour continues, drive to Dalsnibba (weather permitting), the region's highest point reached by road, for delightful views of towering cliffs and waterfalls. Then journey from Geiranger to Hellesylt for a ferry cruise on Geirangerfjord, one of the longest, deepest, and most scenic fjords in the world. It was recently designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site; you'll see the sheer, crystalline rock walls rising 4,500 feet from the water, with waterfalls cascading over the edge. Enjoy lunch today at the Hotel Union Oye.

Day 12 - Bergen’s historic wharf
Journey south past more photo-worthy fjords - and aboard a ferry from Lavik to Oppedal - en route to the city of Bergen, located on the Byfjord, famed for its ancient harbor and open-air fish market. Your hotel is set close to Bryggen, the city's old wharf district, featuring traditional wooden buildings and a medieval atmosphere. Founded in 1070 during the days of the Hanseatic League, it is one of the oldest large trading ports in Northern Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 13 - Troldhaugen, Edvard Grieg’s musical inspiration
After learning about Bergen's centuries-old maritime legacy on a guided city tour, embark on an excursion with your local guide to Troldhaugen, former home of Edvard Grieg; Norway's foremost composer is perhaps best known for his musical score for the play Peer Gynt. Return to Bergen to spend the afternoon at your leisure. Share your favorite Scandinavia tour experiences at tonight's farewell reception and banquet dinner.

Day 14 - Homeward bound
Your Scandinavia tour ends in Bergen, Norway. Fly home anytime. A transfer from Radisson SAS Hotel Norge to Bergen Airport Flesland is included. Please allow a minimum of 2 1/2 hours for flight check-in procedures.

Night 1 & 2: Sheraton Stockholm Hotel
Stockholm, Sweden

The Sheraton Stockholm Hotel is located right in the heart of Stockholm's central business district, close to the City Hall (where the annual Nobel Prize ceremony is held), shopping areas, and the Royal Palace. Enjoy a romantic walk at sunset through the cobblestone alleys and picturesque squares in the Old Town, located just opposite the hotel. Night 4 & 5: Copenhagen Marriott Hotel

Night 12 & 13: Radisson SAS Hotel Norge, Bergen
Bergen, Norway

Enjoying an ideal location in the center of the city adjacent to Bergen's popular park, Lille Lungegåardsvann, the Radisson SAS Hotel Norge, Bergen is this Norwegian port city's most prestigious and historic hotel, set within walking distance of landmarks including Bergen's world-famous fish market, Maria Church, Rosenkrantz Tower, Håkan's Hall and the Mount Flølen funicular. Tauck guests enjoy newly renovated Business Class guest rooms featuring free high-speed wireless Internet access, television with free premium channels, radio, direct-dial telephone with voicemail, mini bar, coffee and tea making facilities, bathrobe and slippers. Dining and nightlife options are many at the Radisson SAS Hotel Norge. The historic Ole Bull Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and à la carte dinners in a casual atmosphere overlooking the city park, while FISH, Bergen's only seafood bar, features a wide range of delicious local seafood. Café Contra Bar offers refreshments and snacks; drop into the Library Bar for a cocktail or aperitif; and try the Metro Bar and Nightclub for dancing and drinks.

Inclusive Prices

Tour prices are per person in U.S. dollars. All hotel accommodations, motor coach transportation, the overnight cruise from Copenhagen to Oslo, the train ride from Geilo to Flåm, cruises through several fjords, special dinners, sightseeing, admissions, luggage handling and the services of the Tauck Director, local guides and drivers are included. You will be provided with a transfer voucher for a taxi ride with Taxi Stockholm from the Stockholm-Arlanda Airport to the Sheraton Stockholm Hotel. This voucher will be included in the documents that we will send you upon receipt of your final payment. At the end of the tour, we will also provide you with transportation from the Radisson SAS Hotel Norge in Bergen to the Bergen Airport on the day of your departure.

Hotel and Ship Accommodations – The tour price includes all hotel and ship accommodations with private baths. The Tauck standard is to provide the best available hotels without sacrificing value. Although the quality may differ slightly from place to place, our commitment to your comfort is unwavering. Two-bedded rooms are reserved in most hotels. Triples are two-bedded rooms with a rollaway cot where available and are not recommended for comfort.

The Tour Operator has secured Commodore Cabins on DFDS Scandinavia Seaways (m.s. Crown of Scandinavia- Deck 7 & 9 and m.s. Pearl of Scandinavia- Deck 10). The Commodore Cabins are spacious 25-square meter outside cabins with double beds that cannot be separated. There are no triple cabins in the Commodore Class, only cabins with one double bed. For triple accommodations, two cabins will be used. The Commodore Class Cabins are equipped with air-conditioning, shower, toilet, a mini-bar, fruit basket, toiletries, and steward services on arrival and departure.
 
Meals – Most meals are included as specified in the itinerary.

Tour Director – Scandinavia is conducted by a Tour Director who remains with the group throughout the tour. Your Tour Director is a professional, fully trained employee of The Tour Operator.

Gratuities Included – All gratuities for restaurant, hotel and ship staff, and local guides are included.

No Options Sold – Your Tour Director will assist you with information on free-time activities based on honest opinion and guidance but will not sell you anything. This means better value and a more relaxed and pleasant experience for you.
 
Not Included

Airfare to the tour departure point and from the tour ending point is not included. Airfare may be purchased from us for travel originating in the United States.

Hotel Rooms Before and After Tours – To avoid jet lag and possible flight delays, you may wish to make hotel arrangements for the nights preceding or following your tour. As a service, we will book additional nights for you on a space-available basis using special rates only available through us. Hotel room charges will be added to the tour cost. If you wish to spend additional nights, please consult the Extend This Journey section on this website and discuss it with the reservations agent when you book your tour.

Luggage Responsibility – Although every effort is made to handle your luggage carefully, we cannot be responsible, assume liability or accept claims for loss or damage to luggage and personal effects due to breakage, theft, or fair wear and tear through hotel, airline and group carrier handling. It is important for your own self-interest and protection that you make certain you have adequate insurance to cover these eventualities. Please refer to the Protection Plan for more information.

Personal Expenses - Phone calls, room service, alcoholic and bar beverages, laundry, airline excess luggage charges, vaccinations, visa fees and services, and other optional or incidental extras are not included and may be significant.

Tour Director and Driver Gratuities - The customary gratuities to the Tour Director and driver are not included. Gratuities should be extended on a voluntary, individual basis and not as a group.
