Spiritual tour of Jordan to include Gladiator Show in Jerash, Dinner at
Kansaman Rest, Lunch at Petra Kitchen, Cruise lunch in Aqaba and a
horse ride in Petra Day 1:
Arrival Amman Airport : Our Representative will meet you at the gate and shall provide full assistance through immigration & customs. Then you will be accompanied to your hotel in Amman for dinner & overnight.
Day 2:
Morning drive to Amman - city tour Amman - citadel of Amman, a hill with the ruins of the temple of Hercules. At The foot of the citadel is the 5000 seats roman theatre. Then we stop for a walk Around the city Souk (downtown) where you may live the locals way of shopping etc… then drive West to the King Abdullah Gardens where you will enjoy a visit to the Royal automobile Museum. In the afternoon a Volunterism visit to one or more of the followings: 1- The Holy land Institute for the deaf ( www.allah-kariem.org) 2 - Jordan River Foundation (www.jordanriver.jo) 3 - Noor Alhussein Foundation for handicrafts (www.kinghusseinfoundation.org) 4 - Habitat of Humanity Jordan (www.habitat.org) or to one of the orphanage houses etc…. evening return to Hotel. Time for rest then we will drive to Kan Zaman Restaurant for a special local meal. Kan Zaman Castle was an active old station on the Royal Highway connection the Othoman Empire from Istanbul to Mecca in Saudi Arabia now is a superb Kan Zaman resort which includes restaurants, Hubly Bubly coffee shop, Souvenir shops etc…. return to hotel and overnight Amman.
DAY 3:
Morning drive to Jerash the most beautifully preserved and restored Greco-Roman provincial city of all Jerash only a 30 minutes drive from Amman. It has three Amphitheatres, two Roman baths, a Hippodrome and several temples. There are still remains of shops, which Sold silks, jewels, wine, then at the foots of the Roman Amphitheatre you will be going back 2000 years and live the show of: - Roman legionaries with drills and battle tactics followed by gladiator games – outside Jerash. Befitting music is being played. A "Roman" welcomes the guests. The sponsor/host (can be dressed up in toga or tunic) of the games is hailed. Some fortyfive legionaries march on stage with torches and trumpeter and then perform battle drills and tactics. After 15 – 25 minutes, as requested, the legion salutes and marches off into the darkness. To the music from "Gladiator" five pairs of gladiators march in. Greetings and presentations. The Gerasa Gladiators fight pair after pair. One gladiator "escapes", is caught and "executed". All rather dramatic, violent and even gory. The audience decides the fate of each defeated gladiator with thumb ritual. Final parade and the whole cast marches out into the darkness.
Then we proceed to Ajloun castle, built by the Omayyad Caliphs of Damascus in the 8th century AD. Evening return to Amman and overnight.
DAY 4:
Early breakfast then depart to Medaba where you will see the oldest surviving mosaic map of the Holy Land. Continue to Mount Nebo, believed to be where Moses remained and died then we proceed to visit the Baptizm site of Lord Jesus on the river of Jordan, the lowest point on earth. Arrival Dead Sea Hotel to spend the rest of the day on the beach. Day to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Dead Sea. You may want to treat yourself to a good massage or swim in the healing water of the Dead Sea. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. Overnight.
Day 5:
After breakfast – half day on the Dead Sea Beach. Midday we drive south to Visit Kerak Castle before arriving to Petra Hotel and Overnight.
Day 6:
Petra - after breakfast we start visiting the fabulous Nabataean city of Petra, carved into rose-red desert sandstone over 2000 years ago, was lost to the world for five centuries. Known as Sela in the Bible, it was rediscovered in 1812. Petra can be reached only by passing between the steep, high sandstone wall of a narrow gorge. The dramatic view of its Treasury was made famous in the movie “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.” Besides the Treasury, we visit the High Palace, Monastery and Roman-style Palace Tomb. Today we enjoy a special meal prepared by yourself of one of your choices at Petra Kitchen rest. Overnight in Petra.
Day 7:
After breakfast we continue to Wadi Rum. We will enjoy a 4x4 jeep tour to see where Lawrence of Arabia was based where a moonscape of ancient valleys towering weathered sandstone mountains rising out of the white and pink colored sands. Much of David Leans (Lawrence of Arabia was filmed). Proceed to Aqaba Hotel on the red Beach – Day Free on the beach for options, snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, water skiing etc… then you will be accompanied for a special on board cruise lunch or dinner. overnight Aqaba.
Day 8:
After breakfast. Free time until time for departure to Amm Queen Alia Apt for your onward journey.
