British Columbia's
remarkable scenery is easily accessible by car. A stay at Hills Ranch
in 100 Mile House may be as close as you will ever get to being a
cowhand. This is a wonderful trip for a honeymoon couple or a family.
Enjoy the great outdoors, stay in resorts that are beautiful and
interesting. Play a game of golf, be spoiled in the spa, hang around
with the horses, fish, hike or bike in some of the best scenery in the
world.
Day 1- Arrive Vancouver
The rental car office is just
a short walk from arrivals, so you can collect your car and depart for
Whistler. It is an easy drive, giving you a look at Vancouver’s
residential neighborhoods and their stunning views. Drive through
Stanley Park and cross Lions Gate Bridge to North Vancouver, where the
choice of the Marine Drive is slightly longer, but well worth the time.
"Must see" stops along the way are Shannon Falls and Brandy Wine Falls.
Your drive time from the airport with stops should be about three
hours. Whistler is best known as the top rated ski resort in North
America but during the summer months, it is filled with flowers, fun
and outdoor enthusiasts from all over the world. You can dine at the
best restaurants in what the locals refer to as seriously casual
clothes!
Overnight – Delta Whistler
Village Suites-Hotel Room
Day 2 – Whistler at Leisure
Walking is the ideal way to
explore Whistler Village. The village is arranged in a collection of
town squares, with attractive hotels, shops and wonderful restaurants.
Quaint and pretty, are words often used to describe the flower filled
streets and in no time at all, you will feel right at home. If you are
not bothered by heights, be sure to ride the Gondola to the top of
Whistler or Blackcomb Mountain. While at the top, you can get a bite to
eat and watch the ski enthusiasts taking advantage of peaks that allow
for summer skiing. If you golf, ask about Whistler’s fine golf courses,
as pre booked tee times are highly recommended.
Overnight – Delta Whistler
Village Suites-Hotel Room
Day 3 – Whistler to Hills Health & Guest Ranch -100 Mile House
Today you need an early start.
Your drive from Whistler to Lillooet takes you on challenging but well
maintained paved roads. The section of road known as Duffey Lake Road
is 50 miles of mountain vistas and alpine lakes, a remarkable stretch
of non-stop scenery! The scenery from Lillooet is dramatically
different, following the mighty Fraser River for a portion of your
trip. The scenery changes again as you enter Caraboo country and
continue to the Hills Health Ranch and Spa.
Overnight – Hills Ranch
Day 4 – Hills Ranch at Leisure
The local golf course is best
known for its ball-stealing Marmots but
the spa at the Hills Ranch enjoys an excellent reputation for health
and hospitality. The spa treatments are very affordable, or spend time
in the pool or sauna. With luck, you may see a demonstration of "Horse
Whispering" techniques. This is a good place to do some horseback
riding. The horses are so used to people, that you can walk up and
scratch them while they feed.
Overnight – Hills Ranch
Day 5 – Hills Ranch to Harrison Hot Springs
Journey south to Cache Creek,
Lytton, Hope and on to Harrison Springs Resort. The drive from Lytton
to Hope takes you on highway ledged into the steep walls of the Fraser
Canyon. Be on the lookout for Jackass Mountain Summit, Nine Mile
Lookout and the Hells Gate Fish Ladder. Harrison Hot Springs is on the
south shores of Harrison Lake. The first stories of warm water in
Harrison Lake date back to 1859 when a prospector over turned his boat.
Instead of perishing in the cold water, he found the lake warm and
comforting. The Harrison Hot Springs Resort is just the place to stay.
Overnight – Harrison Hot
Springs Resort & Spa West Tower
Day 6 – Harrison Hot Springs Resort & Spa
Hotel guests are welcome to
use the hotel’s mineral pools. The surrounding area is good for rock
hounds. Luck visitors may find jade, garnets, agates and fossils. This
area has been a health and vacation spot since 1886, so there are lots
of interesting things to see and do.
Overnight – Harrison Hot
Springs Resort & Spa West Tower
Day 7 – Harrison Hot Springs to Vancouver Airport
Your drive to Vancouver offers
fine scenery and several points of interest along the way. The Domaine
de Chaberton Winery in Langley offers a free wine tasting tour. For
your convenience we have arranged overnight accommodations the Fairmont
Airport Hotel. The Fairmont Vancouver Airport hotel is located in the
airport terminal complex. Your rental car return is also in this area.
The Fairmont is quite the hotel. The rooms are spacious, beautifully
appointed and quiet. We know you will enjoy this great hotel!
